Residents want petrol station to move

In a letter published in today’s Straits Time Forum, Punggol reisdent Mr Chan Ching Hwee has written to query why the proposed petrol station was so near to his residence. According to him, the petrol station was located just 10m to 20m away.

Mr Chan also said that SCDF regulations was for petrol stations to be at least 100m away from residential buildings. According to him, he had written previously to HDB, and HDB had replied that the site was earmarked for use as petrol station even before any developments took place.

Construction for the petrol station commenced on Wednesday and is expected to begin operations by end 2007.
